Value Shore® is a project conceived by The Spanish Association of Consulting Firms (AEC). AEC is a national non-profit organisation with headquarters in Madrid, which includes the main consultancy firms in Spain. It was originally established in 1977 to represent, defend and develop the activity and interests of the consultancy sector and its partners.

A clear example AEC’s important role in the current national consultancy scenario in the fact that its members represent over 80 percent of the total turnover of the Management and Technology Consultancy market. Furthermore, they also employ over 60 percent of the professionals in the sector, represent in the interests of a market that moves € 8 billion a year and provide work to over 100,000university graduates. The consulting sector has the largest number of employees with a university degree out of all Spanish industries.

The sector in numbers 

  • During 2007 the Spanish consulting industry grew 11.3% over the previous year
  • Total revenue in 2008 was 9.5 billion euros
  • The total revenue of the AEC members was 7.6 billion euros (representing 80% of the total revenue).
  • Consulting activities represent 1% of Spanish GDP, but contributed to 8% of its growth

The sector develops the highest rate of innovation (2 billion euros) working directly with clients in three main primary sectors

  • Finance (banking and insurance): 27%
  • Telecommunications: 17%
  • Public Administration: 20%
