Spain is the best IT location for UK companies to find outsourcing services

Spain is the location best placed to meet the UK’s outsourcing needs because of its large skilled workforce, high employee retention rates, cost competitiveness and close proximity. The ability to deliver in-depth business and technology expertise for world class system development, while offering direct links with Latin America for routine and repetitive work, enable Spain to provide flexible and robust IT outsourcing services that are optimised to client needs.

Spain has Europe’s highest ratio of technology graduates, and expertise in energy, infrastructure, banking, retail, telecoms and e-government, giving it the human resources needed to deliver robust services that meet corporate goals and deliver long term benefits. Companies such as Accenture, IBM and Atos have chosen Spain as the location for their centres of excellence in technologies including predictive analytics and business intelligence.

First generation outsourcing was based on knowing exactly what you wanted and getting it done at the cheapest rate, says Jim Walsh, ValueShore Board Member. “More typically today, software is highly complex with an iterative development process for trying out and testing ideas. This requires an advanced level of maturity, which Spain can offer,” says Mr Walsh. It also demands an ability to attend meetings at short notice.

“If it’s mid-morning and things are not working as the client wanted, a Spain-based service provider can be on a plane and there in the afternoon,” says Mr Walsh. Spain can offer UK clients the best of all worlds by delivering a blended solution, or “Off-shore 2.0”. This involves locating some staff in the UK for high level client relationship management, some near-shore in Spain for collaborative software development, and some off-shore in Latin America for low-cost repetitive tasks.
