Outsourcing in Spain continues to the prosper reveals AEC annual report

Sixth consecutive year of growth in outsourcing for Spanish consulting firms

The Spanish Association of Consulting Firms (AEC) presented its annual report “Consultancy in Spain: Key Figures for the industry 2009”. The report revealed that outsourcing was the most prosperous line of business for the Spanish consulting industry in the last six years, accounting for 39% of all income in Spain. If this upward curve continues, outsourcing will soon likely become the main source of income for Spanish consultancy firms.

This report focuses on the earnings of the Spanish consulting firms and is based on a survey of leading firms in the industry. As well as sales figures, the report also highlights current employment figures across the industry and details on the amount invested by firms in continued training.

Key findings from the report include:

  • Sales in consultancy services grew by 0.7% in 2009 (€9.6 billion)
  • The leading clients for consultancy services in Spain are in the financial and telecommunications industries and in the public sector
  • For 2010 it is estimated that the industry will once again continue growing in sales (1.6%), ahead of forecast growth for the Spanish Economy
